And if you haven't yet voted in our poll, please do. :aww:

Edit: Be sure to vote in our [NEW] poll! [link]

------------------------

Haddo, club members! After only about three months since our last contest ended, we are all ready and set to begin a new one. But this time, it's not an art contest.

Nope, this time around we have a writing contest to announce! 'Tis true.

:bulletorange:THEME:bulletorange:
You know your Jak and Daxter OC better than anyone, right? You draw them all the time in scenarios that are just for fun, or can represent a major event in their story. But a picture only shows so much. How can you accurately depict the inner turmoil or pure happiness within a character? How are you possibly able to show what they are thinking at that exact moment?

Well what about writing it? That's exactly what we want you to do. For this contest, your mission is to write out your OC's story in its entirety! That's right! Your OC's life from start to finish, for you and all the world to see. We want to see what your OCs are made of.

:bulletorange:RULES:bulletorange:
Now, the rules are pretty free range; you all have a great amount of liberties and poetic license. However, there are a few basic things needing be addressed.

:bulletblue: First and foremost, there is no limit to how much you can write. By all means, give us a challenge and make us stay up late reading your writing! However, there is a minimal to how much you can write. Your entry may be no less than 7,000 words. There are no exceptions to this rule. We will not accept, nor read, an entry less than 7,000 words. I know it may seem like a good sized chunklette of writing, but that's not even close to the 200 pages the average published story is.

:bulletblue: Second; grammar, punctuation, spelling, creativity, vocabulary, good character and scene description, and originality will all be major factors in the judging process. I know proper punctuation and such aren't always first nature for some, but dig deep people! You wouldn't turn in a novella to a publisher without capitalizing at the beginning of each sentence or marking dialogue, so don't do that for this contest. Also, be sure to be clear when beginning a new chapter. But, if you make a clear indication of paragraph breaks, we do not care if you indent each new paragraph, since DA's a bit weird with that.

:bulletblue: Third, your entries must be a completed, full story of your OC's life. You cannot turn in a couple chapters from the beginning, middle, or end of your story as an entry. Now to clarify, you don't need to follow your OC until their death, your story can end after their great triumph, after their great purpose in life is completed and it all ends happily or sadly.

Also, it must be a story, not something you would use for the biography section of an rp profile, as those are summaries of your OCs' lives. As readers, we want to be captivated and in the moment with your characters, so that we may love or hate them as much as you do! And you don't have to start at the moment of their birth, or end with their death, either, if you want. But you must show who your character is, and not forget any key points of their life.

You can start with them at a young age, when they are just coming to realize the big wide world around them, so long as we understand generally how they were raised (Did they live a nice, happy childhood? Or were they forced to grow up early in their life?), how they are currently living, and watch them grow to be the heroes they become. We understand if something amazing didn't happen the day they were born and it isn't worth mentioning in your literature.

:bulletblue: And last, but not least, fourth. You may enter more than one entry. No limit, as most of us have more than one OC. All that matters is how much you are willing to write.

:bulletorange:TIME FRAME:bulletorange:
This contest is a big one to undertake, and so we are giving you an entire year to complete your entries! On June 1st, 2009, this contest will officially begin. And on June 1st, 2010, 11:59 pm, this contest will officially end. Good luck soldiers, and happy writing! :salute:
