Official Rules Journal

All right, so it has come to our attention that we don't actually have a very official rules journal, so we are changing that! There are also a few new rules, so please read through at least once as we answer some questions that weren't clear in the past.

We accept anyone and everyone on deviantART, so long as they are respectful to fellow members.

Everyone must follow the rules already set in place on DA Etiquete Policy

All admins and members must show respect to each other. We all have different head canons, art styles, and levels of artistic and literature knowledge. No one is "better" or "worse" in any of this, and no one deserves to be attacked or treated poorly for any reason. We all love Jak and Daxter and our OCs; let's lift each other up and not tear each other down!

Is your OC dating a canon character? That's fine! Is someone else's OC dating the same canon character? That's also fine! Your head canon will receive the same acceptance as theirs.

Drugs, violence, and rock and roll. We allow shady OCs with bad habits, good OCs making bad, murderous choices, and adult situations. We do however ask that submissions to this group be tastefully done and edited. Nothing too hardcore; please edit the "taboo" parts of your characters' bodies. Feel free to have an unedited version in your own gallery, and even have a link to that in the artist's comments of the deviation you submit to the group.

We do not accept adult situations regarding minors!! These can be alluded to if your OC has a dark past and it is vital to their character development, but as DA has rules in place against submitting work with minors in precarious situations, we will not accept any outright violations of this rule.

Please put a mature content warning on any works submitted to this group that are in need of one. Members who don't wish to see mature content will be thoroughly aware and able to make a choice as to what they wish to view.

Works submitted to the wrong folders will be declined, but as we are a smaller group you can resubmit as much as you need to, and we admins will be sure to help you know which folder your work belongs in. Elf ears. We absolutely accept characters who do not have traditional Jak and Daxter elf ears. However, there must be good reason for this established early on in your OC's story. Some people have humans sucked into the video game or something like that. Tell us your reason for this non-elf eared character and we will accept them into the family.

Fandom crossover OCs. Some people use one OC for many fandoms. As long as your Jak and Daxter version of this OC clearly looks "Jakified" we will accept them. Elf ears strongly encouraged in this situation, but not necessarily mandatory.

Using canon characters that are rarely or never seen. Some people have their own version of Jak's mom or some other character that is mentioned but never seen. Her character is never established. We will accept your work regarding this character and characters like her even by themselves. This character still holds the title of a canon character, but as there is little to no character development in game, you have enough freedom to make them almost entirely an OC.

AU OCs. Also known as Alternate Universe OCs. We accept these, just make it clear to us it's Jak and Daxter related so us admins can understand immediately your submission belongs in our group. Otherwise we will have to ask if it is J&D related, and will decline it if we receive no response [or the submission will expire].

AU canon characters. It's highly likely that if you have an AU OC the Jak and Daxter universe in general will be AU. We accept that. This rule specifies VERY AU CANON CHARACTERS. I will use the scenario we were presented by a member. Say you combine two or more canon characters into one entity. We would accept this into the group only if this new entity becomes exactly that, its own distinct entity with its own identity and form with its own new mind. You cannot have this entity have a new form but in its mind/consciousness the canon characters' personalities are bickering and maintaining their characteristics from the game.
